Nobody does it like Jeep and that has to be said for the new Recon. First and foremost this is a Trail rated, open air Jeep that just so happens to run on electricity and run it does. With 670 hp this will launch 0-60 in a claimed 3.6 seconds but the downside is you'll only get 222 miles of rated range. Everyone kept telling me I needed to wheel Kentucky. This week I finally did in the middle of a string of thunderstorms that had the whole region soaked. The mountains above Durango were named for silver that was never really there and this trail tells the whole story. In this episode of Recon America, I point the Jeep up La Plata Canyon toward Kennebec Pass, an easy backcountry route that climbs past waterfalls, old mining claims, and the ruins of towns that boomed and busted 150 years ago.
