Modern car names are complete nonsense. Once upon a time, car names actually meant something. They were intended to conjure an image in the mind’s eye. Yet names like Mustang, Corvette, Javelin, Riviera, and Stealth have been all but replaced by randomly generated password jumbles like OPTIQ, bZ, EQS, EQE, GV70, EX30, and endless strings of letters and numbers that sound more like a CAPTCHA image test than a car. The new Hennessey Blackbird is resolutely analogue, with a six-speed manual gearbox, a naturally aspirated engine and no screens in the cabin.
