  • CX-5 75K Mile Service…What should be done?

    Mazdas247 · Cubanrummy · 25 Sep 2026

We have a scheduled appointment for our 2018 CX-5 Touring NA next week w/the local MAZDA dealer for the 75K mile service (actually gonna be @ around 77.5K). The 4 spark plugs are due for replacement....but will the "service advisor" try to sell us the 4 tube-type ignition coils? Or should those be changed-out too? We've also decided after much research (including this forum), to ask for the drain & fill only transmission service (no pan drop or filter change) with the... Read more

  • Counterfeit NGK Spark Plugs

    Genesis Owners · BobbyC777 · 25 Sep 2026

I posted this here as it is not just for a specific model. I had never even considered that the NGK Iridium spark plugs I bought off Amazon might be fakes until a friend mentioned it to me. I had not yet installed the plugs so I called NGK. (877.473.6767 x1) They told me what sort of pictures to take and after seeing them they told me that mine were not genuine. They have a list of about 15 authorized sellers listed on their website. Where to Buy - NGK Spark Plugs I reported this to... Read more

  • N/A '94 940 Bosch system ignition conversion options

    Turbobricks · Smithsonite · 25 Sep 2026

I'll be converting this vehicle to carburetor due to constant difficult start or no start (engine cold) problems below about 45°F. I still haven't quite figured out if I'm dealing with a fuel or ignition problem, however when the car went down for good a month ago I had no spark, so I'd wager it's an ignition issue. Once warmed up, it runs like new. I'm looking for a way to convert the ignition to distributorless, but NOT using the stock computer. I'd like to have the spark triggered by the... Read more

  • Turbocharging and Modifying an Automatic Protege5

    Mazdas247 · MuffinMan06 · 25 Sep 2026

Hello, as you may know, I have been interested in turbocharging my automatic since the day I bought it. I feel that the automatic may have more potential than the manual because of its taller gears, torque converter, and ability to stay in the motor's powerband by itself. I have yet to prove this on my own, as I have just started collecting parts for my build. To turbocharge an automatic, you will need a piggyback ECU like the speeduino to control fuel and spark while the stock ecu controls... Read more

  • Ignition-only ECU options

    Turbobricks · Jonikopsuka · 25 Sep 2026

I’ve been looking at getting rid of spark issues in my ’84 242 B19K rust bucket. I’ve currently got two Weber 40 DCOE’s for fuel delivery so I’m not looking for EFI systems persay but something to potentially replace the points ignition. So far I’ve looked at: Speeduino MaxxECU Microsquirt rusEFI MSD Black Box 3 Multispark Probably a few other I’ve forgotten to mention What would be the most bang for my buck and easiest to get up and running? What’s the bare minimum of accessory equipment... Read more
