The new Silverado is here and while there are some updates to the interior and exterior there's a clear highlight to the 2027; The Engines. There are a few returns here, like the 2.7 Turbo coming back as the base engine with small improvements as well as the diesel 6 cylinder. The grand return though is the the 5.7 (and 6.6) V8s that Chevy says has more power than any other naturally aspirated v8 in the segment. I set out to find the most religious, broken and destroyed engine I could for this week's teardown. My selection was this 6.2L L86 Gen5 LT based V8 I found under a pile of engines in a scrap bin.
